Compact, Versatile Full-Frame Zoom for Everyday Shooting
The Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM is a lightweight standard zoom lens designed for Canon’s full-frame EOS R mirrorless system. Weighing approximately 395g and measuring just 88.8mm in length, it packs a versatile 24-105mm focal range, 5-stop image stabilization, and a close-focusing macro function into a compact body. It is an excellent walkaround lens for travel, landscapes, portraits, and everyday photography.
Versatile 24-105mm Zoom Range
Covering wide-angle through short-telephoto focal lengths, this lens handles a broad variety of subjects without needing to swap lenses. The diagonal angle of view ranges from 84° at 24mm to about 23° at 105mm. The aperture is f/4 at 24mm and gradually narrows to f/7.1 at 105mm, trading some light for a smaller, lighter design.
5-Stop Optical Image Stabilization
Dual Sensing Image Stabilization uses data from the lens’s gyro sensors and the camera’s image sensor to achieve up to 5 stops of shake correction. This allows sharp handheld shots at slower shutter speeds, which is especially helpful in dim indoor settings or when shooting at the longer end of the zoom range.
Center Focus Macro for Close-Up Shots
A Center Focus Macro function lets the lens focus extremely close, with a minimum focusing distance of about 0.2m in autofocus and 0.13m in manual focus. It delivers up to 0.5x magnification at 24mm with manual focus, giving photographers a creative way to capture small details such as flowers, textures, and food.
Quiet, Smooth STM Autofocus
An STM (Stepping Motor) autofocus system provides smooth and near-silent focusing, which suits both still photography and video recording. A 12-pin communication system, Canon’s fastest lens-to-camera data transfer to date, helps the camera apply corrections quickly for clear, detailed images.
Advanced Optical Design
The optical formula uses 13 elements in 11 groups, including an aspherical element, to deliver sharp results across the zoom range. A 7-blade rounded diaphragm with an aperture range down to f/40 contributes to pleasing out-of-focus areas, while the full-frame image circle ensures compatibility with the entire EOS R lineup.
Compact Build with Customizable Control Ring
At 76.6mm in diameter with a 67mm filter thread, the lens is easy to carry all day. A customizable control ring on the barrel lets users adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and exposure compensation directly from the lens, giving quick, tactile control while shooting.
